RESIDENT INFORMATION / 05

Research & field records

Selected observations from resident postings. Reports of complete understanding have been returned for clarification.

APPLIED OBSERVATIONS

Small incidents. Useful findings.

Selected additions to the
resident personnel casebook.

TR–08

The out-of-office reply

An operator received an automatic absence notice and suspended the relationship until the stated return date. The resident was, throughout, their spouse.

GUIDANCEAvailability at work and availability as a person are separate systems. Consult the person.

RE–24

The housewarming

Personnel increased the thermostat to 34°C in advance of a social gathering. Guests described the welcome as intense. No structural damage was reported.

GUIDANCEThe warmth refers primarily to company. Ask before adjusting the building.

CO–17

The shared document

Six delegates opened a shared document and waited for it to speak. A seventh wrote ‘Hello?’ in the title. This remains the only completed section.

GUIDANCECollaboration requires a contribution. The blinking cursor is not taking minutes.

ED–31

The five-year plan

An operator submitted a precise account of the next five years. Management requested that it be more ambitious. The operator requested that management consult the events themselves.

GUIDANCEA plan describes an intention. Leave room for weather, other people and lunch.

RE–39

The mute button

An operator spent a video meeting presenting in total silence. Three colleagues described the contribution as unusually considered. The minutes recorded unanimous agreement.

GUIDANCECheck the microphone before interpreting silence as consensus.

CO–42

The calendar invitation

Personnel accepted an invitation marked “optional” and immediately requested clarification of the moral consequences of absence. The organizer changed the title to “quick sync,” which did not help.

GUIDANCEAsk whether your presence is useful. A meeting invitation is not a summons from the absolute.

ED–56

The personal brand

An operator developed a consistent visual identity for themselves and began refusing colours outside the approved palette. Their garden subsequently failed a communications review.

GUIDANCEConsistency can be helpful. Flowers are not members of your communications team.

CM–09

The regular

An operator returned to the same café for six weeks. On the seventh, the resident behind the counter began preparing their drink without an introduction. The operator filed a telepathy report.

GUIDANCEThis is recognition. It may be allowed to feel good.

RE–61

The cloud

A delegate placed important documents on the roof during overcast weather. They were retrieved by a neighbour and returned in a slightly damp envelope.

GUIDANCEThe storage service and the atmospheric formation have different retrieval procedures.

CM–18

The Irish goodbye

An operator left a gathering without making an announcement. Research received no complaint. Community recorded a successful departure and requested that no seminar be developed.

GUIDANCESometimes a small interaction can remain small. This guidance does not apply to borrowed coats.

PRELIMINARY FINDING

Human enough.

No further questions. Please continue doing whatever that was.

This finding does not require you to be human.
